Ingredients

French Toast

7 eggs

1 ¼ c. milk

1 ¼ c. half & half

½ c. sugar

2 t. vanilla

¼ t. nutmeg

1 baguette, sliced

Streusel

½ c. flour

¼ c. sugar

¼ t. salt

3 T. butter, soft

¼ c. sliced almonds

½ t. almond extract

Instructions

Coat a 13×9” baking dish with nonstick spray.  Whisk eggs, milk, half & half, sugar, vanilla, and nutmeg in a large bowl.  Toss baguette pieces is egg mixture and let stand 5 minutes to absorb some of the custard.

Arrange baguette pieces in the prepared baking dish, flat side down and in a single layer.  Pour residual custard over bread.

Cover with plastic and refrigerate for 2-24 hours.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Combine ingredients for the streusel in a bowl, then sprinkle over baguettes.  Bake until topping is golden brown, and bread is set, about 30-40 minutes.  Serve with warm maple syrup.
