*My 7th graders prepared this recipe in class, and all I would hear during the quarter is “when are we making Puppy Chow.”  This was definitely their favorite recipe.

Ingredients

Scale

9 c. corn Chex cereal

½ c. creamy peanut butter

¼ c. butter

1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 t. vanilla

1 ½ c. powdered sugar

Instructions

In a large bowl place 9 cups of Chex cereal and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter over low heat, stir until melted and smooth.  Remove from heat and add the vanilla.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the dry cereal and stir until it is completely coated.

Pour the cereal mixture into a large Ziploc bag. Slowly add the powdered sugar.  Seal the bag and shake well until the cereal is well coated.

Spread the mixture onto wax paper and cool completely.

Store in containers or bags and place any leftovers in the refrigerator.
