Chocolate Chip Cookies

Grandma stated the success of her cookie: “the flatter the cookie the better” and would always store her cookies in a large ice cream pails. Mom would prepare cookies about once a week, and at age 90, she is still making cookies weekly.

Ingredients
½ c. oleo (margarine)
½ c. shortening
1 ¾ c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
nuts, optional
Instructions
Cream margarine, shortening, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Add 1 cup of the flour and baking soda and continue mixing with an electric mixer. Add the last cup of flour by hand; then add the chips and nuts. Place on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 350-degrees for 10 minutes.
