Spaghetti Sauce – Slow cooker

Ingredients

1# Italian Sausage or ground beef with 1 T. Italian seasoning

6 oz. can tomato paste                   

28 oz. can crushed tomatoes  

1 ½ c. red wine 

1 c. water

1 onion, diced

2 t. minced garlic 

2 T. sugar

1 t. chili powder

1 t. salt                   

½ t. pepper

2 T. Worcestershire sauce 

4-6 oz. mushrooms, sliced

1-2 c. fresh spinach – optional

 

 

 

Instructions

      In a large skillet brown Italian sausage and drain. In a crock pot place all ingredients except mushrooms, and spinach.  Cook on high for 2 hours or low 6 hours. 

     Add the torn spinach and sliced mushrooms 30 minutes before done. Serve with spaghetti, Ravioli, or Italian Dunkers.   Place sauce over top with grated parmesan cheese.     

*The recipe makes a lot of sauce.  It freezes well.
